Asad’s story


Software engineer Asad Khan didn’t know a trip to Pench tiger reserve in late 2020 would bring him face to face with a sudden devastating and completely unexpected news. A jump from the machan ladder left him with a feeling of prick in the lower abdomen.

Early diagnosis revealed he was suffering from an aggressive stage IV kidney cancer, a rare occurrence among people his age.

A few days before the Pench trip, Khan, then 37, was happy to have lost 4kg without following any workout or diet regimen.

"Sudden weight loss was a major warning sign but I was not aware of it as I didn’t have any health issue and life was enjoyable,” recalled Khan..

The news about the cancer was broken by Khan’s childhood friend Dr Saurabh Mohabey who travelled 250km overnight from Rajanandgaon to personally explain the report.....
